Folk Festival Fly-In Sunday 19th June 2011
- Sunday 19th June is the Scottish Flying Club's Folk Festival Fly-In, from 2pm till 5pm. There will be live music with local
bands, food, drinks, Fairtrade tea and coffee, and more...
- Between 2pm and 5pm we will have a range of microlights and sport aircraft, aeromodelers and hovercraft.
- The bands playing on the day: The Weavers Boys, Michael Doris, The Dodgy Characters and Wasted Radio
- This is a family event organised between The Scottish Flying Club and The Adam's Comunity Trust.
There will be a £5 donation per car for parking. All makings will go to ACT, a local charity that uses its funds to improve Strathaven open spaces.
- For ALL VISITING AIRCRAFT there is free camping and free landing fees all weekend.
- At Strathaven Airfield, no PPR is required for the Fly-In and unleaded petrol will be available all weekend.
- Strathaven Airfield uses Safetycom (135.475mhz) as its radio frequency. Please make blind calls to
Strathaven Traffic and do not expect a response. Be aware, more wind sensitive aircraft may be using the
cross-wind runways while larger aircraft may need the length of the main runway.
- Our windsock is ex-Glasgow Airport and is horizontal at 30kts. The online weather station is currently out of order due to the reacent hangar fire.
- Strathaven Airfield is at 847ft above sea level, so the 1,000ft wind on
the Form 214 gives a good forecast. In southerlies, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Prestwick Airports will all have a
significantly lower wind in their METARs than Strathaven.
- To get Strathaven's QFE, simply subtract 31mbs from Glasgow's QNH.
